Albert Lea police are continuing to investigate after receiving multiple calls of shots fired Sunday night near the intersection of Frank Hall Drive and Eighth Street.
Police were dispatched to the area at 10:42 p.m. Sunday but were unable to verify where the shots came from, according to an Albert Lea Police Department press release.
When officers arrived, they searched the area, and no further shots were reported at that time.
At 8:37 a.m. Monday, police were advised that one of the residents in the area had found several shell casings and had found damage to the neighbor’s shed that may have been caused by a bullet.
That person turned the 9 mm shell casings over to an officer and showed the officer the damage to the shed. The casings were found on Eighth Street near the intersection of Frank Hall Drive.
The release stated the damaged shed was in the 1400 block of Frank Hall Drive. The majority of the damage was determined to have been caused by means other than a bullet. On one section of the particulate wood siding, damage was found that may be consistent with a bullet, but an actual cause remains undetermined.
The Police Department stated the case remains open, but there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
