David Roy Anderson, 70, died peacefully on Friday Nov. 22, 2019, with his wife, Gwen, and daughter, Katie Madorin, by his side at his home.

David Roy Anderson, 70

David was born on Sept 11, 1949, in Virginia, Minnesota. David was a 1967 graduate of Austin High School. David was well known for his devotion to breeding, training, and hunting the Treeing Walker Hound. He created a successful and well-respected Western Lone Pine kennel with Finley River origins. With a lifelong love for reading and writing, David received many literary awards for his writing, including the 2017 first-place poetry award from the Pacific Northwest Writers Association. For 10 years, David served as managing editor for the Tahoe Writers Works literary publication “EDGE.” Skilled in construction, David created or remodeled many lasting structures across Minnesota, Washington, Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico.

David is survived by his wife of 28 years, Gwendolyn M. Hosey; daughter, Katie Lea Madorin (Brian); and son, Samuel Walker. David will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Kaiya and Kieran Madorin; sister, Linda Esse; brothers, Steven and Daniel; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. David was preceded in death by his father, Roy; his mother, Mardy; and his brothers, Robert L. and Joel D. Anderson.
