Linda M. Miller, 67, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Austin.

Linda Marie Shawback was born Dec. 7, 1951, to Leallen “Lea” and Gladys (Kruger) Shawback in Austin. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1970. She then went on to attend Austin Vocational Technical School for cosmetology. Following college, Linda worked at several area beauty shops. She then became self-employed, owning and operating her own salon Hair Studio for over 33 years. On Dec. 26, 1970, Linda was united in marriage to Michael Miller in Austin. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Troy, and daughter, Amber. She was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church and the Zonta Club of Austin. Linda worked and volunteered for the Red Cross and was a past blood donor. She also volunteered at the Mower County Historical Society and Relay for Life events. Linda loved scrapbooking and made albums for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling for over 50 years and traveling to national bowling tournaments for 30 years. Linda especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting, school and church events, and greatly loved time spent at their family cabin on St. Olaf Lake, as well as family trips up to Northern Minnesota. Linda will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Miller of Austin; son, Troy (Emily) Miller of Austin; daughter, Amber (Dustin) Knudson of Andover, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Kendra, Ethan, Abby, Tate, Karley, Quinn and Louis; sister, Suzanne Shawback of Austin; and brother, James (Mary) Shawback of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leallen “Lea” and Gladys Shawback; a brother in infancy; father and mother-in-law, Orris and Catherine Miller; brother-in-law, James Miller; and sisters-in-law, Mary Meyer and Delores Burdine.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Austin. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Services are prearranged and performed with Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
