Margaret L. Wasko, 97, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.

Margaret was born Aug. 12, 1922, to Louis and Barbara (Origer) Dion in Lamar, Missouri. The Dion family moved to Kankakee, Illinois, where Margaret was raised and graduated from high school. After high school, Margaret was employed by the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. She remained employed by the Illinois Bell Telephone Company until her retirement.

Margaret met and married Floyd Tibbie. She later married Frank Wasko, who passed away in 2010.

Margaret enjoyed crocheting, making many afghans and crocheting dolls. Whenever possible, she was always canning vegetables. Pickles were her specialty. She also had a gift for baking pie; apple pie was her favorite to bake. Margaret loved to travel. She enjoyed trips to Czechoslovakia, Italy, Germany and Hawaii. She was always thinking of her grandchildren and would bring then gifts from her travels.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd Tibbie and Frank Wasko; and her brother, Lawrence Dion. She is survived by her son, Thomas Tibbie; daughter, Barb (Tim Schreiber) Tibbie; granddaughter, Candy (John) Mills; grandsons, Thomas Nystel and Jeff (Michelle) Nystel; great-grandchildren, Alicia (Brandon) Taylor, Carol (Todd Scheirbeck) Mills, Nathan Mills, Christian, Courtney and Collin Karnes and Jasmine Nystel; and great-great grandsons, Aadyn, Schuyler and Wylie.
