Get to know: Austin senior Salma Masood

Salma Masood is a senior captain on the Austin Packer Dance Team.
Q: What sports do you compete in?
A: Soccer and dance.
Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?
A: Going to state in jazz last year and making memories at practices.
Q: What have you learned from sports?
A: Having a positive attitude and a good mindset will help you overcome obstacles.
Q: What is the hardest part about sports?
A: Conditioning, but it’s worth it!
Q: How do you keep your focus when competing?
A: Usually my jitters go away when the music turns on or when the ref blows the whistle. Beforehand, I like to keep to myself and focus on what I need to do to have my best performance.
Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why?
A: Madi Klein! She has been like a big sister to me, and she is on her college’s dance team. She has always pushed me to be my best ever since I was a freshman. At practices I try my hardest to be my best, so I can make her proud!
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: “That 70s Show”
Q: If you could have a conversation with anyone in history, who would it be?
A: Mark Meismer (dance choreographer).
Q: What is your dream job?
A: Registered nurse.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Pasta.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: Go to Mankato State University and major in nursing.
Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be?
A: Invisibility.
