First responders recognized at city council meeting

The Austin City Council recognized several first responders during its regular meeting Tuesday evening.
On April 14, 2019, Austin resident Carol McAlister was choking and credits the first responders with saving her life.
Pictured are Officers John “J.J.” Mueller (from left) and Michael Nordean, Dispatcher Wanda Weigel, McAlister, Dispatcher Felicia Learn, Aron McAlister (who was the first to perform the Heimlich maneuver), and EMTs Carrie Rossing and Laura Beckmann.
In addition to recognition from the council, the first responders also received “Thank You” cakes from McAlister.
