A quick, but disrupting system moving through our area has us in a winter weather advisory and closed a majority of the schools.
According to the National Weather Service, the area could get between 3 to 6 inches of snow by late tonight on top of the precipitation we received in the early morning hours. The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports that roads in southeast Minnesota are either partially or fully covered with ice and snow.
Originally slated to end at noon, the advisory has been extended to 9 p.m. tonight.
Blooming Prairie, Lyle, Southland, Grand Meadow and LeRoy-Ostrander all canceled school for the day.
