Doris A. Lindquist, 85, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, formerly of the Sioux City, Iowa, area, died on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, her 85th birthday, at Thorne Crest Senior Living in Albert Lea.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1935, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the daughter of Joseph and Bessie (Welch) Gariepy. She graduated from high school and then met and married Dean E. Lindquist, who was serving in the U.S. Navy. This union was blessed with their daughter, Gayle. At the age of 39, Doris returned to school and obtained her LPN certificate. She enjoyed many years of nursing, working for nursing homes, Hospice and Home Health in the Sioux City area. They retired to Albert Lea in 1998.She found much joy in spending time with family, reading, and fishing on Lake Vermillion.
Doris will be lovingly missed by her husband, Dean; her daughter, Gayle (Jim) of Clive, Iowa; granddaughter, Gillian (Erik) Rauglas and their daughters, Genevieve and Adeleine of Clovis, New Mexico; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Milford, Iowa, Eileen Lindquist of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, and Evie Lindquist of Stewartville, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Smulligan and Mary Donnelly; and brother, Joe Gariepy. Doris will be remembered for her strong faith and her amazing and resilient spirit.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea with Father Kurt Farrell officiating. Friends may visit with family one hour before services on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Austin, Minnesota.
