The No. 8 seeded Southland boys basketball team beat No. 9 Spring Grove (13-13 overall) 58-47 in a Section 1A Tournament opener in Adams Thursday.

Reece Tapp had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Rebels (9-15 overall).

Southland will now play top-seeded Blooming Prairie at 6 p.m. on March 4 in Mayo Civic Center.
