Our Opinion: Boost local nonprofits all year long, not just during the holiday season

The Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons are popular times of giving for many people.
While most nonprofits see a boost in their donations at that time as the year is drawing to a close, these organizations have needs that extend throughout the year.
Whether those needs are financial or for volunteers or other resources, these nonprofits cannot exist without the support of the community.
Many of these organizations are in place to support some of the most vulnerable members of the community, whether they be those in poverty, the elderly, the disabled or others.
If a nonprofit does not have the resources to care for its clients, the needs do not go away. Those needs just simply won’t be met.
As you think about your giving throughout the year, think about our area’s nonprofits and what you can do all year long to help those who may need an extra hand.
Consider a way you can give back, whether it’s through donating time or resources.
