Westfield’s Krell scores a title at state wrestling meet

Blooming Prairie senior Colton Krell won his second state title of this school  season when he won the Minnesota Class A championship at 195-pounds for the Westfield Razorbacks at the Minnesota State Wrestling Meet  in Xcel Energy Center Saturday.

Krell, who finished with a record of 33-3 overall, pinned previously unbeaten Tyler VanLuik, who ends his season at 50-1 overall, in the final match.

Krell beat Josh Steffen with a 16-1 tech fall in the semifinals.

Krell also won a state title with the Blooming Prairie football team this past fall and it was the fourth time in the state wrestling meet.

Westfield senior Dylan Nirk took fourth place at 285 pounds in his third state meet appearance.

Anthony Romero of GMLOS took second at 106 pounds. He beat Javon Williams 10-0 in the semifinals, but was pined by Walker Bents in the first period of the championship match.

Daniel Smith took sixth place at 160 for GMLOS and Noah Sayles took fifth at 170 for the Bulldogs.
