Area placed in a winter storm watch

Counties in southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa have been placed in a winter storm watch from Sunday morning through Monday morning.
The National Weather Service is predicting possible snow accumulations of between 4 to 8 inches with winds gusting as high was 35 mph.
The snow will be wet and heavy, which could possibly cause tree damage and power outages.
Blowing and drifting snow could also whip up late Sunday afternoon into Monday.
Sunday’s high is predicted to be 38 mph dropping to 24 into the overnight.
