An Austin man who allegedly burglarized Hoot and Ole’s made his first appearance Tuesday morning in Mower County District Court.

Brandon Lee Ingersoll, 35, has been charged with felony third-degree burglary.

According to the court complaint, police were called at about 11:17 a.m. Monday about a burglary at Hoot and Ole’s Tavern. Officers were advised that the suspect had stolen money and was seen riding a bike towards Jim’s MarketPlace. He was described as a white male with a beard wearing a black hoodie.

An officer apprehended the suspect, Ingersoll, and read him a Miranda warning. Ingersoll said that he entered Hoot and Ole’s to get some water, but left when he did not find any. He denied taking anything from the bar.

Another officer responded to the bar and made contact with an owner, who said Ingersoll came in through the back door without permission while the bar was not open for business. He indicated that he confronted Ingersoll, who then rode away on a bike and dropped a green Crown Royal bag. The owner said the bag belonged to him and contained tools and other items that were taken from the bar.

A review of Ingersoll’s criminal record shows prior convictions for burglary, theft, domestic assault and drug possession. He is currently on probation.
