Riverland Community College adjunct faculty member Helen Jahr has filed to run for Austin City Council in the First Ward.
“I am interested in running because I am a lifelong member of Austin who cares about the future of the city,” Jahr told the Herald. “I am hoping to offer ideas and insight for the betterment of our wonderful community.”
Jahr currently sits on the Austin Park and Recreation Board and was recently selected to be a member of Austin Utilities’ Consumer Advisory Committee. She is a health teacher at Riverland Community College.
Jahr is the second candidate to file for the First Ward seat currently held by Councilwoman Laura Helle. Current Honorary Councilmember Oballa Oballa filed to run for First Ward last week.
“I’m excited to be a member of Austin and I look forward to serving the community and the city in this capacity should I be elected to do so,” Jahr said.
