Michael Alan Lechner (5’Er, Lex), age 59, of Austin, died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Michael was born August 13, 1960 in Austin, Minnesota to Dean and Marlene (Mudra) Lechner. He attended Austin High School and graduated with the Class of 1979.

Michael’s career of 38 years was at Crenlo in Rochester. He got laid off two times then rehired in 1983.

Michael married Marijane Kotz on September 14, 1985. They had two children: a daughter, Samantha and a son, Calvin.

Michael loved spending time with his family and working on his 72 Nova that he bought in high school. He was a softball player for years, played golf, loved watching racing, NASCAR, dirt track racing, and Minnesota Wild Hockey. Michael loved car cruises and shows. He painted 5 on everything, that was his number.

Survivors include his wife, Marijane Lechner, Austin; daughter, Samantha Lechner (fiancé Justin Ellingson), Austin; son, Calvin Lechner, Austin; mother, Marlene Lechner, Austin; brothers, Rick (Nell) Lechner, Concord, NC, Jon Lechner, Spring Valley, Joe (April) Lechner, Breckenridge, TX; nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dean Lechner; cousin, Darin (OD) Oakland.
