Nathan “Nate” Sylvester Magnuson, age 88 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie. Nathan was born February 4, 1932 on the family farm in Newry Township, Freeborn County. He was the son of Selmer and Gertrude (Paulson) Magnuson.
Nathan attended country school at the Magnuson School and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1950. On June 14, 1953, Nate was united in marriage to Verna Mae Jolson at the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church in rural, Austin, Minnesota. Nathan loved farming, working the land, and raising cattle his entire life. He loved to dance, play cards, tell jokes, and collect antique tractors. He cherished all the friendships he had during his lifetime. Nathan will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Magnuson of 66 years; brothers, Kenneth Magnuson of and Ronald (Mary) Magnuson; sister-in-law, Judy Magnuson; nieces and nephews; close friend and co-worker, Lawrence Goodnature. He was preceded in death by his parents, Selmer and Gertrude Magnuson; brother, Richard Magnuson; and sister-in-law, Lois Magnuson.
Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials preferred to donor’s choice. Services are prearranged and performed with Worlein Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
