UPDATE: Second death recorded in Mower from COVID-19

The Minnesota Department of Health confirmed on Monday that a second Mower County resident has died from COVID-19.
According to Mower County Health and Human Services Division Manager Pam Kellogg, the individual tested positive on May 11 and had been hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit for several weeks. The individual was in their late 60s and had underlying health conditions, Kellogg said.
The county’s first death was reported on May 19. Cases over the weekend rose by 64 from Friday when the count was 254 cases. After today’s report the total is now 345 new cases.
Statewide cases now number 25,208 after Monday’s report with 1,050 deaths.
Throughout the state, 549 are currently hospitalized with 253 of those hospitalized in ICUs.
Cases in surrounding counties include: Dodge (53), Fillmore (17, 1 death), Freeborn (125), Olmsted (634, 10 deaths) and Steele (160).
