Garrett Gordon Lester, 29, formerly of Austin, MN, passed away on November 18, 2023, in Russellville, Alabama. He was born on February 18, 1994, in Albert Lea, MN and his early departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of his loved ones.
Garrett was a devoted fan of football finding great joy and excitement in cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles and attending Minnesota Vikings Training camps. His passion for the game was a source of inspiration and brought him countless hours of enjoyment. In addition to football, Garrett had a talent for drawing. He found solace and joy in expressing himself through art.
Beyond his love for football and drawing, Garrett treasured his time spent with his beloved Cotter/Surdy family during their trips to Vermont. Additionally, he created lasting memories with his mother, siblings, and numerous friends during their annual trip to Wisconsin Dells.
Garrett attended Lyle High School, where he completed his education. He will be remember for his quiet nature, his love for football and his artistic talent.
Garrett is survived by his loving mother, Kathy Lester; sister, Zoe Bratten (Clayton Bratten); brother, Brady Lester; nephews Torryn Bednar and CJ Bratten; niece, Frankie Bednar; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Garrett was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Lester; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Wiedeman; maternal grandfather, Duane Wiedeman; paternal grandmother, JoAnne Lester; uncle, Jeff Kampand his good friend, Andy Davidson.
To honor Garrett’s memory, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
