Thomas R. Tschida, age 75, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at his home in Austin. Thomas was born on April 20, 1948, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Eugene and Caroline (Stadnick) Tschida. He graduated from Pacelli Catholic High School in 1966. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Thomas served our country in the Vietnam War and earned an honorable discharge. He then went on to attend school in Chicago, Illinois, and received electrical training. Tom worked at the Bank of Chicago, starting in the mail room, and eventually working as a loan officer. It was at this time he met Angelina Perez. On April 16, 1992, the couple was united in marriage in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a longtime member of Queen of Angels and St. Edward’s Catholic Churches. Tom worked for Hormel as a driver and in shipping for 23 years until his retirement in 2007. He was very proud of his many years of service to the Austin community as a member of the Color Guard for VFW Post 1216. Tom enjoyed camping, canoeing, traveling all over the country, and spending time with his family. He especially loved telling jokes and making people laugh. Tom was known for his “joke of the day” over coffee, and always knowing the answers to Jeopardy before the contestants. He will be missed by all.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Angelina Tschida; son, Michael Tschida; grandsons, Michael Joseph and Gabriel Eugene Tschida; brothers, Robert (Lisa) Tschida, Patrick Tschida, Joseph Tschida, and Andrew Tschida; and sisters, Suzanne Lastine, and Carole (Scott) Anderson.
