Warren Kelly, 96

Warren Wendell Kelly, 96, passed Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society-Comforcare in Austin, MN.

Warren was born January 5, 1927 in Monticello, MN to Benjamin C. and Delphine (Kegler) Kelly. The family moved to Clarks Grove, MN in 1930 where Warren grew up and graduated from Albert Lea High School.

Warren served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. When he returned, he married Laura (Jean) Cassel on November 8, 1952 in Clarks Grove, MN.

In 1952, Warren and Walter Scott started Scott-Kelly Construction. They built and remodeled many homes in the Clarks Grove and Albert Lea area. Warren started Kelly Construction in 1962. Warren also worked at Queens Products in Albert Lea for many years.

Warren and Jean were active in the First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove serving on various boards and committees and also volunteered to work on many missionary trips to Haiti, Arizona and Alaska. During these trips, Warren helped with building or repairing churches and other structures, while Jean volunteered at the clinics and hospitals.

After Jean passed away in July 1997, Warren married Janice Kalland in June 1998. They lived in Austin, MN and spent many winters in Ocala, FL.

Warren is survived by his children; Kevin (Linda) Kelly, Pueblo, CO and Dale (Nancy) Kelly, Clarks Grove, MN, and daughter-in-law Karla Kelly (David Oakland), Lake City, MN. Survived by eight grandchildren; Janelle (James) Bargonetti, Jeffrey (Tracy) Kelly, David (Malayna) Kelly, Michael (Holly) Kelly, Kristine (Grant) Ver Hey, Joshua Kelly, Benjamin (Brooke) Kelly, and Lewis Kelly (Katy Clark). He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Elzo Peterson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean, his son, Richard Kelly, and his second wife, Janice. Also preceded by his sister, Maureen (Larson) McGill, brother, Verne Kelly, brothers-in-law Charles Larson and Larry McGill, sisters-in-law, Delores Kelly, Neva (Alfred) Lembke, Nadine (Marlin) Berg, and Laurene (Joy) Peterson.

A private family service will be held.
