Forty years ago I met Bobbie for the first time. She had answered a “Personal” ad in a small, formerly underground, newspaper called Creative Loafing. When I finally got around to calling her, we talked for five hours. We agreed to meet at the Phipps Plaza movie theater on Dec. 13, 1983. I spotted her right away, and we went in to watch “A Christmas Story.” After the movie, we went to Ruby Tuesdays, right there in the mall. We closed the place down, and we almost couldn’t get out of the mall because everything else had closed and many of the doors were locked. Finally, we made our way back to the theater entrance and got out, said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. I was smitten, and we’ve been together ever since.
