Beverly Ann Benson, a beloved member of the Rushford community, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 21, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. Bev was born on June 12, 1932, in Rural Lanesboro, Minnesota, and graduated from Austin High School in 1950. Bev and Max were united in married on January 21, 1961. Bev found great joy in serving her community. Bev volunteered tirelessly, weaving herself into the fabric of various organizations. Her involvement in 4-H and the Rushford Lutheran Church Circles allowed Bev to foster relationships and make a positive impact on the lives of those around her. She was a founding member of The Bevs Club and an avid bowler. Additionally, Bev actively participated in the Red Hats Club, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Root River Saddle Club, Jockey Club at Canterbury Downs, Federated Women’s Club, and The 500 Club. Bev enjoyed travelling in her younger years. She started her working career at Hormel Foods, transitioned into farming for many years, and spent her last working years at Christianson Pharmacy. She was a great support of all her children and grandchildren in everything they did, especially of their sports teams. She often babysat for grandkids and they all knew that they could go to their grandma for anything. Yet, for Bev, her true joy came from entertaining others and providing food and drinks. Her table was always open, and she delighted in sharing meals and creating memories with friends and family. Beverly’s generosity and welcoming nature knew no bounds, as she never turned away those in need. Beverly’s legacy of selflessness will be carried on by her children, who embody their mother’s spirit of giving and community involvement. Bev is survived by her children, Tracy (Dana) Coulter, Toni (Kenny) Highum, Terri Benson, and McLean (Becky) Benson; grandchildren, Shane (Danielle Kingsley) Coulter, Cody (Grace) Coulter, Jacob (Erin) Highum, Tyler Highum, Kyra Benson, and Tanner Benson; great grandchildren, Mya Kingsley, Harper “Beverly” Highum, and Piper Highum, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; daughter, Tricia; parents, Paul and Alfa Larson; and her twin sisters, Dorothy Anderson and Doris Forland. A funeral service will be held for Bev on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 2pm at Rushford Lutheran Church (101 S Mill St, Rushford, MN) with visitation beginning at 12pm until the time of the service at 2pm. Bev will be laid to rest at Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. December 28 is the birthday of Bev’s very special twin sisters, Dorothy and Doris, whom Bev is celebrating with in Heaven. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Meals on Wheels and the Rushford Ambulance Service. Hoff Funeral Home – Rushford is assisting the family.
