Fidelity Lodge No. 39 recently presented three Fire Suppression Devices to the Austin Fire Department.
These devices fit in the trunk of squad cars or other emergency vehicles. They can dramatically reduce fire and water damage in enclosures like houses, garages, stores, sheds, etc.
They are lightweight and easy to deploy: just “pull the pin and throw it in.” Within 35 seconds, the fire is suppressed, and the temperature inside the enclosure drops over 1,000 degrees, making it a safer environment to extract trapped firefighters or citizens.
This is a project of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Minnesota and a way Lodges can support agencies in their community. With support from Minnesota Masonic Charities, the devices were initially purchased by the Grand Lodge of Masons in Minnesota. Local Lodges, in turn, purchased them at a reduced cost from Minnesota Masonic Charities.
Fidelity Lodge members Neil Hanson, Steve Neiswanger, Otto Volkert and Brad Stout made the presentation to Fire Chief Jim McCoy.
