Larry A. Waters, 81

Larry Allen Waters, age 81, of Austin, Minnesota, departed to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, following a courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born on November 17, 1942, on a farm north of Austin to Ralph and Agnes (Haney) Waters. He was a lifelong Austin resident, attended Woodland Country School, and graduated from Austin High School in 1960. On March 15, 1994, Larry was united in marriage to Pamela Chadwick in Austin. Larry proudly served for 28 years in the Army National Guard before retiring with an honorable discharge in 1994 as Sergeant Major (E9) 34th Infantry Division. He worked many jobs utilizing his Class A CDL before he retired from Cash Wise Foods as the evening manager in 2006. He was known for his excellent woodworking skills and enjoyed building and making furniture for his family and friends. Larry also used these woodworking skills for charitable donations.

Larry is survived by his wife, Pamela; children, Mark (Melanie) Waters, Gina (Todd) Grundmeier, Jeremy (Misty) Waters, Joanne (Stewart) Smyth, Chris (Stephanie) Waters, Jason (Missy) Waters, and Rob (Tara) Chadwick; many grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Renwick, Sue (John) Nielsen, and DeeDee (RJ) Bergstrom; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Agnes; and brother-in-law, Bill Renwick.

The funeral service for Larry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. The visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin and will continue for one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. A private family interment will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice or St. Mark’s Resident Activity Fund.
