Cynthia “Cindy” R. Maschka, 70

Cynthia “Cindy” Rose Maschka, age 70 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, January 1st, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus following complications of a stroke.
She was born on October 31st, 1953, to Charles “Pete” and Verna Watson in Fort Dodge, IA. The youngest daughter of 5 children, Cindy had a zest for life. Graduating from St. Edmond’s High School in 1972, she found her calling to become a nurse where she was trained by the nuns at St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester, MN, earning her LPN.
On August 17th, 1974, she married Terrance Kropp. Together they had their daughter Megan. They later divorced. While attending RCTC, she met Steve Maschka. They were married on April 11th, 1992. They welcomed their daughter Molly that following September. When she wasn’t taking care of patients, you would have found Cindy with a camera in her hand. From football games, basketball games and softball games, Cindy enjoyed capturing pictures of her kids and later on, her grandchildren Addy and Thias. Walking in nature was another hobby of Cindy’s, where she found being in nature gave her a lot of peace.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Steve Maschka of Austin, MN; daughter, Megan (Nate) Yoder, Berlin, Germany; daughter, Molly (Dylan Schroeder) Maschka, Austin, MN; bonus son, Jason (Laura) Maschka, Austin, MN; two grandchildren, Addelyn and Thias Yoder, Berlin, Germany; brother, Gary Watson, Arizona; sisters, Connie (Dick) Brokaw, of Iowa and Cathy Reel of Arizona; siblings-in-law, Jerry (Kathleen) Maschka, Beverly Bell and Dean (Cheryl) Maschka; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Verna Watson; brother, Tim Watson, parents-in-law, LeRoy and Margaret Maschka, brothers-in-law, Denny (Linda) Maschka and Robert Maschka; and her great niece Maven.
