David Matthew Jacobson, age 38, died unexpectedly from a cardiac event on January 17, 2024, at his home in Saint Paul, MN. Dave was born on January 1, 1986, to Ron and Judy Jacobson in Austin, MN. Dave graduated from Pacelli High School in 2004 and later earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Normandale Community College and was working towards a bachelor’s degree in nursing education from Aspen University. Dave was a Registered Nurse and has worked in multiple roles at Children’s Hospital of Minnesota since 2012. He was twice chosen by his peers to earn the Daisy Award for exceptional nursing. Dave had a huge heart and cared deeply for the young patients in his care. He was well-regarded and will be missed greatly by his colleagues.
Dave was married to Heidi Skonseng from 2009-2019, and loved his step children, Graden and Madi Welton, and his daughter Amelia. Amelia was the brightest light and greatest love in his world. Dave was a caring, hardworking, and fun father, brother, colleague, and friend. Dave lived with Tim Mueller, who was his best friend and co-adventurer in life. Dave enjoyed baseball, fixing things and remodeling, and sharing his sense of humor. Dave will be remembered for the smiles and laughter he brought to everyone around him. From the time that he was little, his big heart and his playfulness had a magnetism that everyone was drawn to.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Amelia; parents, Ron (Marge) Jacobson and Judy Jacobson; grandmother, Dorothy Weber; brothers, Jeremy (Winnie) and Daniel (Becca); sister, Freyja; 8 nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jerome Weber, Melvin and Nancy Jacobson; and uncle, Steven Weber.
A Celebration of Life for Dave will be held later this spring.
