Bruce Wayne Hoy, 67, of Austin, MN, passed away on February 26th, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Austin, MN to Eugene and Donna (Jech) Hoy on January 14th, 1957. He spent much of his youth in the care of his grandparents George and Ella Jech.
He spent many years working for Austin Sanitation, then BFI, and finally Waste Management. In recent years, before his illness, he worked for Lee Hansen at Hansen Hauling and Excavating and the family extends their thanks to Lee for all he did for Bruce these past few years.
He married Doris Hoy in February 1985 and had two children, William and Casandra. Bruce and Doris divorced in 1998.
For the past 20+ years, he has been with his significant other Arlinda Ozuna, and prior to his passing was in the process of moving to South Dakota.
Bruce loved to spend his time working on cars, even if many of them never quite got running again. He was an avid watcher of movies, and a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings despite the years of constant disappointment.
He is survived by his children William Hoy and Casandra Hoy; grandchildren Kaiya, Kenzi, and Korie Hemann; his significant other Arlinda Ozuna; her sons Travis Ozuna and Jesse Ozuna; and Arlinda’s grandchildren, including Jaydon Ozuna and Jaslyn (Michael) Deiser, and Madi, Joziah, Linkin, and Eko Ozuna, who knew him as grandpa. He is also survived by his youngest sister Gale Carter; his two half-siblings Laura Jewell and Jerry Hoy; and many, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Hoy and Donna Hoy; his step-mother Janice (Maxfield) Hoy; his brothers David Hoy and Dale Hoy; his sisters Diana Medgaarden and Virginia Ball; and by Arlinda’s son Dominic Ozuna.
Bruce did not wish to have a funeral, and as such one will not be held. The family will be hosting a celebration of life in coming weeks, and Casandra and Travis will be posting details soon on Facebook.
