Emogene “Jeannie” Knight, 100, of LeRoy, MN, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Emogene Helen Mollenhauer was born September 5, 1923 to Louis and Martha (Utpadel) Mollenhauer in Owatonna, MN. She graduated from Owatonna High School. On December 26, 1941 she married Raymond C. Knight in LeRoy, MN.
Jeannie worked as a copy writer for radio and television and 2 major department stores. She also worked for GTE (now Verizon) for 15.5 years. She started out in Yellow Pages advertising and ended as a district telephone manager. In 1986 she retired and moved to LeRoy, MN. In Jeannie’s spare time she loved to cook, read, sew and attend sporting events.
Jeannie is survived by her 4 children Raymond (Debra) Knight of Oxford, GA, Patsy (Frank) Newell of Vadnais Heights, MN, Bill Knight of Havre, MT and Craig (Tammy) Knight of LeRoy, MN, 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Knight, parents Louis and Martha Mollenhauer, daughter Nancy Kittle, son Gary Knight, infant grandson, granddaughter Tara (Newell) Peterson, 3 brothers Alvin, Lowell, Glenn and one sister Marion Grass.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, MN on Saturday, April 20, 2024 officiated by Pastor Deanna Woodward. Visitation will take place from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at LeRoy Cemetery. It was Jeannie’s wish that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Maple Leaf UMC Parish. They may be sent to Pastor Deanna Woodward at 617 Maple Lane Spring Valley, MN 55975.
