In Your Community: Adams Troop 114 scout achieves Eagle Scout

Connor Popenhagen of Dexter, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on Fe. 17 at his Court of Honor ceremony held at the Dexter United Methodist Church.
Connor is the son of Craig and Kelli Popenhagen, of Dexter, and the brother of Reece, also an Eagle Scout, and Katie. Grandparents of Connor are Connie Ellis and the late Dale Ellis of Elgin, Iowa and Frances Popenhagen and the late Russell Popenhagen of Wadena, Iowa.
He is a member of Scout Troop 114 of Adams chartered by the Adams American Legion Post 146.
To earn the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out an Eagle Scout project.
For his project, Connor built a bench/kiosk for the City of Rose Creek Frisbee golf course and also made six-mile markers for the Shooting Star Bike Trail along Highway 56.
Connor is a junior at Southland High School in Adams, where he is a member of the track team, cross country team, golf team, band, Knowledge Bowl and National Honor Society.
