Janice Green, 56

Janice Green, 56, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Janice was born April 7, 1967 in Waterloo, Iowa, to Eugene and Maxine Schneider. She graduated from Columbus High School in Waterloo in 1985 and the University of Northern Iowa in 1989. Janice then moved to Austin where she spent time working for Gerard, Mower County, and Southern Minnesota Education Consortium.

Janice was very involved in the community and social work field, impacting countless families and colleagues throughout her career. She was always willing to give advice and help others during their most vulnerable times.

Janice enjoyed traveling to warm weather destinations, biking, boating on the Mississippi River, and having well-manicured nails. She loved hosting gatherings and cooking enough food to send leftovers home with everyone.

Janice is survived by former husband, Craig Green of Austin; sons, Kyler (Amanda) Green of Austin, and Easton Green of Rochester; grandchildren, Aubrey, Claire and Tanner Green; siblings, Steve (Anita) Schneider, Tim (Lori) Schneider, Cathy Axline (Brian Parker), Paul Schneider, Lisa (Steve) Shissler; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Gene and David.

Our mother’s journey was a challenging one as she struggled with addiction for many years. Her passing brings a mix of emotions – sorrow for what might have been yet appreciation for the impacts she had on those around her.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday, March 9th at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
