Vera June (Tiedeman) Duholm, age 95, of Austin, died Saturday, March 16, 2024 at The Emeralds at Faribault.
Vera was born in Austin, Minnesota on June 2, 1928 to Herbert D. and Gertrude Tiedeman of Elkton, Minnesota. She spent her childhood on the family farm near Elkton. Vera attended and graduated from Elkton High School. Following graduation, Vera attended two years at Austin Community College. During her college years she met her future husband, Richard L. Duholm of Austin. They were united in marriage on June 11, 1949 at Westminster Presbyterian Church where they were lifelong members. Together Vera and Dick raised their four children at the family home on South Kenwood (4th Street SW).
Vera thoroughly enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Her attention to detail and her fabulous meals made everyone feel welcome. In Vera’s later years she became an avid Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves fan. She looked forward to her daily crossword puzzles and enjoyed a challenging game of Scrabble.
Dr. Pepper, chocolate chip cookies, and her jar of Jelly Bellys were always within reach. Thus, she earned her title as “Grandma Jelly Bean”. Vera had a special connection with each of her grandchildren. Bobo, Stormy, Cricket, Misty, and Molly were her beloved furry companions over the years. Family, friends, pets, and the simple things in life are what brought Vera the most pleasure.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Duholm; son, Randy L. Duholm; parents and in-laws.
Vera is survived by her son, Kirk (Karen) Duholm, Eagan, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Darlene Duholm, Austin, Minnesota; daughters, Chris (Mark) Pothen, Mounds View, Minnesota, and Jane (Charlie) Knutson, Faribault, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Jesse Duholm, Jennifer Ehrich, Stephen Duholm, Andrew Pothen, Laura Duholm, Evan Knutson, and Eric Pothen; nine great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1:15 pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Oakwood Cemetery with The Reverend Michael Olmsted officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Wednesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary, followed by the interment.
As an expression of sympathy, memorials can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, The American Heart Association, or the Mower County Humane Society, in honor of Vera.
