A. Maxine Lundene, age 100, of Onalaska, Wisconsin, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Onalaska Care Center. Maxine was born on February 2, 1924, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Benjamin and Stella (Juelson) Exe. She was raised in Hayfield, Minnesota and graduated from Hayfield High School. Maxine then attended Mankato Business School. Following school, she went on to work for Austin Office Supply, where she met Curtis Lundene. The two were married on June 5, 1949, in Hayfield. Maxine was a past member of Home Extension and the Sons of Norway. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially family get togethers. Together Maxine and Curtis enjoyed canning fruit, making lefse, and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, DeAnn (Dan Janisch) Lundene; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brett) Hoglund, Sarah (Kyle) Maher, Christopher (Sarah) Dreyer, Neil (Maggie) Miller, Stacy Wateski; great grandchildren, Bronson, Josephine, and Broderick Hoglund, Danica, Kurtis, Keegan, and Delaney Maher, Kyle, Nicholas, and Faith Dreyer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis; daughters, Cheryl Miller and Renae Lundene; sister and brother-in-law, Delora (Bob) Boomgard.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, with the visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association. A special thank you to Onalaska Care Center for the wonderful treatment they provided.
