Ronald L. Voigt, 71

Ronald Lynn “Ronnie, Ron” Voigt age 71, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
Ron was born on the family farm just east of Taopi on April 11, 1953, to Raymond Guy Voigt and Evelyn Bly Voigt. He attended school in Taopi through the 8th grade and graduated from Adams High School in 1971. In his youth, he enjoyed farming, football, cars, and boxing. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1975 where he was stationed as a medic at the Royal Air Force Base Upper Heyford in England.
After the service, Ron attended technical college in Red Wing for heating and refrigeration.
He married Sheryl “Sherrie” Bergstrom in 1976 and to this union three children were born, Shauna, Amy, and Brady. He worked at IBM and Fluor Daniel as a facilities purchasing manager. In his retirement, Ron worked for a time at Kulow Trucking, Harris Mechanical as a project manager, and Krueger Trucking. He enjoyed gardening, baling hay, camping, especially horse camping at Forestville State Park, boating, deer hunting, and fishing. Most important to Ron was his family, including his wife of 47 years, their children, and grandchildren. He was a beloved uncle to many of his nieces and nephews. There wasn’t anything he would not do for his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and for simply being a nice, gentle guy who cared deeply for others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond H. Voigt and father-in-law Gayle J. Bergstrom.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sherrie; daughter, Shauna (Zach) Wood, their daughter, Grace, of Cottage Grove, MN; daughter, Amy (Jake) Mandler of Adams, MN, their children, Coltin, Wesley, Kyleigh, RaeLynne, and Addylin; son, Brady Voigt (Nick Strenke) of Taopi, MN; mother, Evelyn Voigt; mother-in-law, Lavonne Bergstrom; as well as brothers and sisters, Norm (Beth) Voigt, Larry (Dianna) Voigt, Cindy (Chuck) Landherr, Randy (Roeann) Voigt, and Char Osmundson; many nieces, nephews, extended family members.
Interment will take place in a private ceremony at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota with military honors.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams with the Reverend Jeremy Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Adams Funeral Home.
