Timothy Joseph Voorhees, age 36, was born July 26, 1987, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota and passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2024, in Austin, Minnesota.
Timmy graduated from Maple Grove Senior High and during his high school years he volunteered a great deal of his time with the Maple Grove Police Explorer Program learning, growing, and flourishing in a role he truly loved! He became captain of his post and was able to demonstrate his talents, skills and knowledge of the responsibilities and tasks a police officer could encounter in any scenario at the Minnesota Law Enforcement Conference. He started a job as a Security officer in The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes and moved on to become a Maple Grove Community Service Officer (CSO) where he gained first-hand experience and played a crucial role in helping our community stay safe, contributing assistance wherever it was needed.
Tim was our middle child, capable of driving his brothers crazy with his cleverness and mischievous shenanigans. From the moment he was born to the moment he left this earth, Tim was a fearless daredevil, yet the most genuine, selfless, compassionate, loving, caring, intuitive, courageous, determined, empathetic, hard-working, stubborn, and witty individual! His desire in life was to help others, to give rather than receive, to encourage others to find hope. He made it his goal to provide as much support to those who needed it, helping them feel valued, heard, seen and loved. Tim brought immeasurable JOY to each person he encountered and loved intently, unconditionally and deeply!
He had a love of cats, fast cars, and eventually chose a career of being a bartender/therapist when he moved to Austin, MN with his dad and Douglas, his fiancé. He impacted many lives, made endless friendships and created memories that will always be a healing source for many! Tim will forever be loved, cherished, treasured, missed but never forgotten.
Survivors include his parents, William K. Voorhees, and Jodi J. Voorhees-Gavenda (Bryan Gavenda, stepfather); older brother, A.J. Voorhees (Kayla Anderson and niece, Ellis Voorhees); younger brother, Michael W. Voorhees (Bethany); Stephanie Baccam (mother of niece, Averie James Voorhees and nephew, Bentley Voorhees); and life partner, Douglas Shockley; as well as many close dearly loved relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at The Bakery Lounge, 113 2nd Avenue NE, Austin, Minnesota at 1:00 pm and a memorial service will be held sometime in June in the cities – details to be announced when finalized.
