The Mower County Board of Commissioners on Monday, during their meeting at the Government Center, unanimously passed a resolution on federal funds secured by the county to go towards a pair of Mower County bridges that need replacement.
Because of a quick response, the county was able to secure $2.1 million that had not been allocated by the State of Minnesota for other projects. Another $700,000 in Aid Funds will be used to complete the two projects located on County Road 7 in Sargeant and Dexter townships.
According to Public Works Director Michael Hanson, work will likely begin on the two bridges around October of 2025 and go through the winter.
The total construction price of the two bridges is estimated to be around $2.8 million.
Both bridges are obsolete and in need of replacement.
