John “Jack” Churchill, age 96, of Austin and formerly of Grand Meadow died Saturday May 25, 2024 at the Austin Medical Center in Austin, MN

John Winston “Jack” Churchill was born April 06, 1928 in Spring Valley, MN to Dale and Iva (Dornink) Churchill. He attended and graduated from Elkton High School in 1946 and started farming with his dad after graduation. At that time he also worked as a DHIA Tester. Jack was united in marriage to Josephine “Josie” Czech in St Paul, MN on June 10, 1950 and together they farmed in the Grand Meadow area until 2019 when they moved to Austin, MN. Jack also sold insurance for many years and served as president of Spring Valley Mutual Insurance Company.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, he enjoyed reading, playing cards, traveling up north, and to California and he especially liked to entertain and have parties.

He is survived by his wife Josie Churchill of Austin, MN, sons; Jim (Rick) Churchill of Austin, MN, Gene (Joanne) Churchill of Big Lake, MN and Larry (Sylvia) Churchill of Grand Meadow, MN, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and a sister, Mary Ann Hennessy of LaMesa, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Robert, a grandson Trevor and 2 brothers; Bert and Sheldon.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday June 1, 2024 at the United Church in Grand Meadow with Pastor Jon Marburger officiating. Burial will be in the Frankford cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 P.M. Friday May 31, 2024 at the United Church and will continue for 1hr prior to the service on Saturday.
