Joseph Daniel Fuhrman, age 70, long time Austin Realtor, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
Joe was born to Ervin and Mary Fuhrman in Odessa, Texas on September 24, 1953. Shortly after, the family settled in Minnetonka, Minnesota where Joe grew up on a 3-acre property they liked to call the Peaceful Forest. After graduating from Minnetonka High School in 1971 he attended Mankato State University, earned a business degree and met Cindy Keers of Pipestone, the love of his life. After marriage, Joe and Cindy moved to Austin where Joe went to work at Brill Real Estate; 5 years later they purchased the business and started Fuhrman Real Estate. He enjoyed seeing the impact home ownership had on the countless families he worked with over his 40-year career.
Together Joe and Cindy ran their business and raised their three children, John, Katy, and Michael. Joe loved being a member of the Austin community and was a lifetime advocate for his adopted hometown. He was active in many organizations including Early Morning Kiwanis, The Austin Country Club, Cub Scouts, The Salvation Army, the Austin HRA board and St. Edward Catholic Church. He was recognized by the Austin Chamber of Commerce in 2019 with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Joe will always be remembered for his sense of humor, warm smile, and kind heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Fuhrman; children, John (Stacy), Katharine (Anthony Lukken), Michael (Jen). Joe’s pride and joy were his nine grandchildren, Aiden, Peyton, MacKenzie, Gabriel, Bode, Fiona, Lillian, Sasha & Brooks. He is also survived by his brother, Kurt; and sisters, Francelle, Beth, Katie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ervin & Mary; and in-laws, Jack & Sharon Keers.
May God rest his soul.
