The public is invited to the Mower County Health Local Advisory Council’s Mental Health Awareness Walk on Saturday, May 18.
The walk, which will start at 10 a.m. — rain or shine, will begin at Austin Manor, located at 510 23rd Avenue NW, and go to The Bridge, located in downtown Austin at 108 East Oakland Avenue.
The group wants people to know that the walk is open to anybody who is either coping with mental illness, has family with mental illness or knows somebody else with mental illness.
All are welcome to join this event and you don’t need to walk to take part.
There will be a lunch served at 11 a.m. and people can sign up for door prizes donated by local businesses. T-shirts are also available on a first come first served basis.
Cash donations are welcome but not necessary to take part in the walk.
There may also be a speaker as part of the day’s festivities.
Limited shuttle services will be available to get people back to Austin Manor.
