Albert Lea Civic Music this week announced their lineup for the 2024-25 season, which kicks off Oct. 20 at Albert Lea High School.
The 78th season offers five concerts in Albert Lea, along with reciprocity to four concerts in Clear Lake through the Clear Lake Area Concert Association.
The following is the Albert Lea lineup:
Rhapsody and the Blues, Oct. 20
Hear George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” premiered — again! This is the first new arrangement of Gershwin’s iconic work since the original dance band version of 1924 and the ensuing orchestral arrangement of 1942. It’s sure to be an historic evening to celebrate 100 years of easily one of the most iconic piano works ever written.
Gilles Vonsattel, Nov. 12
Swiss-born American classical pianist Gilles Vonsattel loves to perform a program featuring some classical “war horses” intermingled with some lesser-known pieces. Vonsattel is professor of piano at University of Massac Amherst, has played around the world and is a Steinway artist.
Boyd Meets Girl, March 4, 2025
Boyd Meets Girl pairs Australian classical guitarist Rupert Boyd with American cellist Laura Metcalf. The husband-and-wife duo arranges much of their repertoire, drawing inspiration from artists across all genres. The duo has toured throughout the USA, India, Nepal, New Zealand and every state and territory in Australia.
Orchid Quartet, April 3, 2025
Orchid Quartet is a powerhouse string quartet based in Los Angeles. The quartet consists of four highly sought-after string players who perform and tour with top artists and who regularly record for major record labels, video games and film/television soundtracks. From the stage to the studio, Orchid Quartet’s energy, professionalism and enthusiasm are contagious, and the love of the music they play emanates to those around them.
Street Corner Symphony, April 28, 2025
Street Corner Symphony is a Nashville-based male a cappella ensemble that was a runner-
up on NBC’s “Sing Off” in 2010. Their repertoire covers a wide range, from gospel to rock and
pop, appealing to the young and old alike.
The concerts in Clear Lake, at the E.B. Stillman Auditorium in Clear Lake, include the following:
- A Neil Diamond Story with Denny Diamond, Oct. 5
- Letters from Home, Nov. 13
- Admiral Radio, March 25, 2025
- Boomer Decades with Colleen Raye, April 25, 2025
The season ticket prices are $15 for students, $50 for adults and $105 for families.
