OSAGE – Cedar Summerstock Theater will wrap up its 2024 season with “School of Rock,” opening on Thursday, at the Krapek Family Fine Arts Center at the Cedar River Complex in Osage.
The 2015 Broadway musical follows the story of Dewey Finn, an out-of-work musician who takes a spot as a substitute teacher and turns his class of fifth graders into a rock band. Finn hopes to enter them into a Battle of the Bands — without knowledge of their parents or the school headmistress.
The musical features Caleb Hector — most recently King Sextimus the Silent in “Once Upon a Mattress” — as Finn. Celine Sullivan will portray Rosalie Mullins, the long-suffering headmistress. Several local sixth graders will take up the acting – and in some cases, playing – spots as the young student musicians.
The show runs through Aug. 4.
