Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

You are welcome!

This small statement has such a wide meaning for anyone who graces the doors of the Austin Public Library. No matter where you were born, where you live, what your background is or who you identify with, you are welcome at the library. Within the library walls we are all equal in our quest for knowledge.

Some of us are beginners on the path to learning a certain topic or subject while others may have a fair bit of experience on several different knowledge paths. None of us have completed our knowledge quests and the library is a great place to indulge in your paths to knowledge and share your path with others along the way.

In an age of social media, disconnectedness and unrest, the library proves an oasis to many who seek knowledge and connection. The library is a place to grow and to feel a part of the community when other venues and places are not. The Austin Public Library welcomes you and yours on the quest for knowledge (and fun) with our event and program line up for July and August. Here are a few things coming up…

Coding & Robotics continue with the Edison Robot. In this four-part class, kids will learn about the clever little robot “from down under” that can code with barcodes, blocks and script. There are two times to choose from with these four consecutive classes on Tuesdays, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. This class is for ages 8-15, and registration is required. Call the library at 433-2391 to reserve your child’s spot.

Digital Trivia is back for July and August. Compete solo or with a team to answer correctly as many questions as you can for points and bragging rights. July 18 will feature questions about Disney Princesses and Aug. 15 will be themed TV Sitcoms of the 80’s-10s. Open to all ages, just bring a wifi capable device (tablet, smartphone, laptop) to play. Kids, 12 and under, will need a parent to help.

Looking to start your knowledge quest about computers? Need to brush up on some computer basics? On July 25, at 5:30 p.m., the library is offering a computer basics course, Intro to Computers. This course is geared toward the beginners to learn or brush up on how to use and operate a computer. Laptops and a Tech Guide will be provided for the class. For ages 18 and over. Registration is required. Call 433-2391 to reserve your spot.
