Kathy worked for 44 years as a CNA in nursing homes and care facilities everywhere she lived – Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa. She was an important part to every healthcare team. The patients and their families requested her by name. She offered tender care along with having natural gentle strength to safely and comfortably maneuver her patients. Kathy was serious, sassy and had a natural gift of honest to goodness direct candor. That is what made it so easy to love, trust and confide in her. She always had a quick wit to make everyone smile, shake their head and laugh. It was interesting how she always knew family news, local news and world news along with what was up and coming, so she could easily keep everyone well informed.

In 1991, Kathy married the love of her life, Robert Rosenberg, and enjoyed the very best years together on their farm in St. Ansgar until his heart-breaking early death on October 6, 1995.

In her retirement, she enjoyed visiting, playing cards, playing dominoes, cooking for large groups – especially, making her absolutely scrumptious calico beans. She dedicated herself to preparing coffee for the daily community room gathering with her group of friends at the Pickett Place Apartments. Kathy looked forward to her many visits, gatherings and travels with her siblings and their families. She especially loved preparing for and having fun at the annual Skjeveland Family Fishing week together at Shangri-la Resort in Orr, MN for over 40 years. She definitely made many great memories for everyone to treasure forever.

Kathy is survived by three sisters, Rena Perrigo of Brownsdale, MN, Carol Tumilson of Rayville, LA, and Valarie Kohn of Cumberland, WI; and two brothers, Claire (Doc) Skjeveland of Cottage Grove, MN, and Ronald (Cheryl) Skjeveland of Austin, MN. She is also survived by her son, Christian (Debbie) Farrell of Austin, MN; daughter, Rebecca Schilling of Charles City, IA; two stepdaughters, Becky Kofron of Forest City, IA, and Susan Buntrock of St. Ansgar, IA; two stepsons, Bradley Rosenberg of Roberts, WI, and Jeffrey Rosenberg of Grafton, IA; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lynn and Gladys; brother, Lynn; and husband, Robert.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Saint John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rock Township, Mitchell County, IA. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
