I am very concerned about the amount of water being taken by ethanol plants and now the proposed Summit Carbon Solution pipeline.
I’m aware that Summit LLC has listed their permit requests under a myriad of different names and LLC.
Please deny any permits for this hazardous pipeline with a great risk to an Iowa resource — namely our water.
It is estimated Summit (under their various permit requested names) will take 3.3 billion gallons of water annually.
How can any permits be given until Iowans know how much water is in the aquifers? The government only provided $250,000 to assess the amount of water in aquifers.
Has this assessment started?
We are all connected by water, the aquifers in Minnesota will be affected too, water knows no boundary!
I have asked the DNR to:
• Please deny any new permits or requests for increases in current permits, until the Aquifers are completely assessed.
• Please consider a dollar amount price for taking our water for private corporations, LLCs, CAFOs, in any amount greater than the average of 100 gallons per day of household use.
• Please keep Iowans informed of the amount of water in the Aquifers.
If you are also concerned, contact the DNR at:
