BLOOMING PRAIRIE — The Blooming Prairie community is kicking it into full force to celebrate the 23rd annual Blooming Prairie Cancer Auction and other events. It is a big month with lots of activities leading up to the live auction itself.
The event will be held Sept. 5-7 under the big tent at the Pizza Cellar.
The Field of Flags is going up again Sunday, Aug. 25, and they will be up for two weeks. You can contact any Cancer Group member to fly a flag to honor or memorialize a loved one. It is an impressive sight to drive down Highway 218 and see all the flags.
Events kick off the night of Sept. 5 with Premier Gun Bingo. This event gets sold out so if you are interested in attending, it is a good idea to purchase tickets early. They can be purchased at Coordes Gun Shop in Lansing, the Pizza Cellar, or by calling Connie Trom at 507-456-8431. A highlight of that weekend is an African safari with vouchers toward airfare will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Saturday morning, the BP Awesome Blossoms and the Filmore Central Falcons will be contributing by hosting events at their 11 a.m. game in BP and wearing pink.
As usual, the auction itself is shaping up to be incredible with many unique items. A trip to Hawaii with vouchers for air fare will be a big hit, along with other trips and many amazing items. You can check out the highlights on the Facebook back. Raffle tickets will be sold for a new 2022 CFMOTO 4-wheeler donated by Al and Harriet Severson. Steve Prihoda’s family and friends have once again donated for a cash raffle.
“This is such a fun and meaningful event for all of us in Blooming Prairie and the surrounding communities,” said Mandy Doocy, the Cancer Group’s treasurer. “Cancer has affected us all in some way, and this is just a great opportunity to do what we can to help fight it.”
