Gerald Lavern Meier, 95, of Adams, Minnesota, peacefully passed away on August 2, 2024.

Born on May 2, 1929, Gerald lived a life full of love, dedication, and service. Gerald was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marjie, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2007. Together, they built a life centered around family and faith, creating a home filled with warmth and laughter. A proud father, he leaves behind his three children: Greg (Candy) Meier, Lorrie Meier, and Penny Meier. He was the cherished grandfather of three grandchildren, Nicole Meier, Lance (Becky) Milner and Paige (Karl) Huther and four great-grandchildren, Alan Meier, Anna Bodine, Mackenzie Milner, Braxten Milner, all of whom were his greatest joy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, parents, Harlen and Emma, sister, Lauralyn and grandsons, Peter Meier and Drue Milner.

A pillar of the Adams community, Gerald was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping others. He was instrumental in establishing the Southland Faith Community Food Shelf touching countless lives with his compassion and dedication. Gerald’s love for his community extended beyond volunteering; he was actively involved in his church, numerous local organizations and events, always seeking ways to give back and make a difference.

Gerald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His patriotism and dedication to his fellow servicemen and women continued throughout his life, as he remained active in the Adams American Legion Post #146 for over 70 years.

Gerald will be remembered not only for his service but for his love of storytelling, his passion for the outdoors, and his gift for conversation. An avid outdoorsman, he played a key role in the development of the Shooting Star Trail which will continue to be cherished for generations to come. Gerald had an incredible ability to connect with people from all walks of life and could talk to anyone, making each person he met feel valued and heard. His infectious smile and warm demeanor will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Cedar Court Senior Living, St. Marks Living, and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care during Gerald’s final days.

Gerald’s celebration of life will begin with visitation on Wednesday, August 7th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Adams Funeral Home, and continue at the church from 10:00 AM until the service.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8th, at 11:00 AM at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, MN with the Reverend Jeremy Johnson officiating and with a reception to follow. Interment will take place on Friday, August 9th, at 1:30 PM at Marshall Lutheran Church Cemetery with Adams American Legion Post #146 in charge of military rites.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Southland Faith Community Food Shelf or Friends of the Shooting Star Trail in Gerald’s honor. His legacy of love, service, and kindness will live on in the hearts of family, friends, and community.
