Jeff Allen Sr., 65

Jeff Allen Sr., 65, passed away August 17, 2024, unexpectedly at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Lyle Legion from 4:00-8:00pm, with a short memorial service starting at 4:30pm.

Jeffrey Eugene Allen Sr. was born on March 6, 1959, in Austin, MN, to Ernest and Barbara (Heins) Allen Jr. He grew up in rural Austin, MN and lived in Mower County his entire life. Jeff graduated from Austin High School in 1977 and shortly after enlisted in the United States Army before earning his Commercial Driver’s License. After meeting the love of his life, Patricia “Patty” Lewison, they were united in marriage on August 23, 1980, and in December became parents. Jeff worked for more than 45 years as a Professional Over the Road Truck Driver, first self-employed and most recently at Freerksen Trucking in Dodge Center, MN for the last 12 years.

When he wasn’t on the road, Jeff could be found tinkering around the yard or in his shop listening to old school music. He loved spending time with his family and would often have everyone over for grill outs and time around the fire. Jeff was a handyman and did many different projects himself including building Patty’s dream chicken coop, tending to his garden, and upkeeping the family pool for the grandkids. Jeff was a collector of many things and could never pass up a good deal. He was an avid storyteller and took no B.S. He kept up to date on politics and was very open about his Republican beliefs. He will be remembered for his quick wit, kindness and love of his family and friends. He was blessed with all kinds of talents.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patty; children Jeff (Julie) Allen Jr., Crystal (JJ) Hansen, and Ashley (Jason) Winkels; grandchildren, Alexis, Couper, Cierra, and Shelbie Allen, Raylan Hansen, and Corbin and Carley Winkels; sister, Carol Allen; and his dog/sidekick, D-O-G.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Barbara; in-laws Richard “Bud” and Harriet Lewison; uncle Bob Allen; and nephews Darrick and Alex Laack.

We are heartbroken by this sudden tragedy. Jeff was one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed.
