Lois E. Sola, 92

Lois E. Sola, age 92, of Austin, Minnesota, and formerly Glenville, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at South Grove Lodge in Austin, Minnesota.

Lois was born June 28, 1932, to Lee and Blanche (Sheedy) VanPelt in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was raised in Austin and graduated from St. Augustine Catholic High School.

Lois met Odean Sola at the Terp Ballroom and was united in marriage on April 7, 1953, in Austin, Minnesota. From this union, they were blessed with three children: Gary, Sharon, and Sandra. Lois worked at George A. Hormel and Company for a brief period before she became a full-time farm wife. Lois and Odean farmed in the London area for many years together and enjoyed vacationing in the south.

Lois’ family was first and foremost in her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to read, play games, especially cards and dominoes, and most of all loved to go dancing. Lois was a longtime member of Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church in Glenville, Minnesota where she was active in the WELCA, Circle, Ladies Aide, and served on many committees. Lois was an active adult leader for the Myrtle 4-H Club and supported the London Deer Creek Cemetery Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Odean; son, Gary; grandson in infancy; great-grandson at birth; brother, William VanPelt; and sister, Darlene VanPelt.

Lois is survived by her children, Sharon (Mike) Ellingson of Albert Lea, MN, Sandra (David) Johnson of Glenville, MN, daughter-in-law Marcia Sola of Glenville, MN; brother, Paul (Mary) VanPelt of Austin, MN; grandchildren, Scott (Amber), Laura (Craig), Jennifer, Collin, and Sam; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Grace and Emily; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Lois’ many caregivers, the South Grove Lodge, St. Croix Hospice, and many others throughout her life.

A funeral service will be celebrated 11:00 am on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church in Glenville, MN with the Reverend Becky Sogge officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and also at the church for one hour before the service. Interment will be at London – Deer Creek Cemetery.
