Mary Lou Olson, age 88, of Brownsdale, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. Mary Lou was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Curtis and Ella (Olson) Nelson on July 25, 1936. She was a graduate of Albert Lea High School and spent over 30 years selling real estate in Austin, Minnesota. On October 1, 1955, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Truman Olson at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Their union was blessed with four children. The couple lived in the Albert Lea area until 1967, when they moved to Brownsdale. Mary Lou was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brownsdale, Sons of Norway, and a dedicated member of a card club for 60 years. Mary Lou loved traveling with her husband to various European countries and many corners of the United States. Some of their favorite trips together were to Norway, Alaska, and Hawaii. She had a passion for hosting and entertaining, and delighted many with her wonderful cooking and baking skills. Mary Lou had a strong work ethic as well as a fun-loving side, reminding you she only teased you because she loved you. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Truman Olson; children, Sheri Olson, Wendy (Clifford) Olson-Hodde, Pam Wollenburg, and Jill Jones; grandchildren, Kyle, Travis, Aleah (Michael), Daniel (Gabi), and Christian (Cassy); five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and son-in-law, Bob Jones.

A funeral service for Mary Lou will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brownsdale, Minnesota. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brownsdale, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
