Discover Austin, MN is inviting the public to the Hormel Historic Home in September for Sketches of Minnesota, a community-inspired, laugh-out-loud evening presented by the Minnesota Humanities Center and Danger Boat Productions.

Sketches of Minnesota uses laughter and comedy to celebrate what makes the community unique. The evening will give residents of Austin and surrounding towns a chance to think, talk, and learn from one another to find better ways to build a great shared life together.

The event will be from 5:30-8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16 and is a co-production of the Minnesota Humanities Center and Danger Boat Productions, sponsored in part with money from the Clean Water, Land & Legacy Fund and by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The evening will begin with a meal and facilitated conversation, asking the audience to share what makes the region great, what they think people get wrong about it, what local divisions concern them, and what future they imagine.

A cast of improv-comedy actors will listen in on the conversations and bring what they hear to life on stage through entirely unscripted comedy theater.

The aim is to foster understanding within and across communities, celebrate the state’s diversity, and showcase what residents cherish most about their corner of Minnesota.

While the show will be comedic, Sketches of Minnesota will never punch down. The event is free, but space is limited. RSVP at www.HormelHistoricHome.org.
