Warren N. Radford, 88

Warren Neil Radford, age 88, of Kyle, Texas, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Philomena in Kyle, Texas, from Parkinson’s and Dementia. He was born on January 31, 1936, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Edgar and Alvina (Heidinger) Radford. On March 21, 1959, he married the love of his life Patricia “Patti” Flatten at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, Minnesota. He worked more than 28 years for the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Master Sergeant and was a Vietnam Veteran. In his early years he played volleyball for the Air Force Team. He moved a lot with the military; some of the places included, Japan, New York, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Naples, Italy, Oslo, Norway, Austin, Texas, and Austin, Minnesota. He provided many cultural adventures for his family due to his military travels. Warren retired from the United States Air Force in the early 1980s and then was the Director of Purchasing at St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas. Upon his final retirement in 1998, Patti and Warren moved back to their hometown of Austin, Minnesota. They enjoyed retirement by traveling around the country in their motorhome. After a few years of traveling, they spent their winters as Winter Texans in South Texas. He started playing table tennis and became a formidable player, winning many trophies. They continued spending winters in Texas until Patti’s health declined in 2015. Warren loved his family passionately. He had a quick wit, wicked sense of humor, enjoyed sports, and liked to tinker in his yard and garage. He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
Warren is survived by his children, Shawn (Gabriel Garcia) Radford in Harlington, Texas and Todd (Rita) Radford in Kyle, Texas; grandchildren, Kristina Radford-Garcia of Austin, Minnesota, Ryan (Ally Brooks) Radford-Garcia of Austin, Minnesota, Kati Radford-Garcia of Austin, Minnesota, Taylor (Jade) Radford of Bastrop, Texas, and Kelby (Hailie) Radford of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Dawson Mills of Austin, Minnesota, Kai Radford-Garcia of Austin, Minnesota, Anna Radford-Garcia of Austin, Minnesota, Bella Radford-Garcia of Austin, Minnesota, Asher Hunn of Austin, Minnesota, Mila Radford-Garcia of Austin, Minnesota, Mya Radford-Garcia of Austin, Minnesota and Forrest Radford of Bastrop, Texas; great-great-grandchild, Gabriella Rose Radford-Garcia of Austin, Minnesota; siblings, Joan Stopfer of Mitchell, South Dakota, Robert (Brenda) Radford of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Barb (Cliff) Zimmerman of Lake Butler, Florida; sister-in-law, Joyce McKee of Fairmont, Minnesota; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Alvina Radford; siblings, Donald (Betty) Heidinger, Nona (Horace) Hunter, Dorothy Burnette; brother-in-law, Jim Stopfer; mother-in-law Esther (Donald) Sundberg; father-in-law, Hollies Flatten.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Grandview Cemetery in Austin, Minnesota. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
